My Travel Story: From Maps to Master Advisor

My love for travel planning began long before I Got a Guy Travel was ever a thought. As a young boy, my dad would hand me a paper map or an atlas and give me a mission: "Frank, I want you to navigate the route to..." wherever we were headed. It was my job to be the human GPS, and that sparked a lifelong passion for plotting and researching the perfect journey. I'll never forget the time, around age 11, when I made a wrong turn and we ended up on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. My dad wasn't amused, but I just remember seeing the teepees in our headlights, an unexpected adventure that has always stuck with me.

That foundational experience of navigation continued through my careers. In the military, it was about getting from point A to point B as expeditiously as possible, with me always leading the way. As a Texas Peace Officer, being the one to get to a call for service in the most efficient manner required deep familiarity with my district.

When it came time to plan family trips, I was the one who sat down and meticulously planned, plotted, and researched every detail. Land vacations were easy—I'd been doing that since I was a kid. But our first family cruise was a completely different experience. I had no idea what to look for, what was needed, or what I was missing. That first cruise wasn't as relaxing as it could have been. It taught me the real value of having an expert guide.

This is why I founded I Got a Guy Travel. I wanted to use my years of experience and extensive training to ensure no one has to go through that same stressful process. My goal is to allow people to truly enjoy their vacation without the stress and anxiety of planning it themselves.

I've since earned multiple certifications and training, including being a Certified and Accredited Cruise Counselor from CLIA, a Cruiseologist with a PhD from NCL University, a Master of Adventure from Royal Caribbean, and an expert with Carnival and MSC. My training extends to land travel as well, with ALGPro and Expedia certifications that allow me to book anything from flights and resorts to rental cars. I even hold a certification in Accessible Travel, Family Travel, and River Cruises.
