A Foodies Re-cap

Dining Aboard the Celebrity Silhouette – A Foodie’s Cruise Recap (May 25 Sailing) One of the best things about cruising? The food. And no, it’s not just the buffet (though the buffet has its moments). On a cruise, you’ll find an impressive variety of dining experiences — from casual poolside bites to elegant specialty restaurants — and the Celebrity Silhouette was no exception. This was our first Celebrity cruise, and the dining options truly impressed us. Here’s a breakdown of where we ate, what we loved, and a few tips if you're planning your own sailing. 🍝 Specialty Dining Highlights We dined at two specialty restaurants during our trip — Tuscan Grille and The Porch. These venues do come with an extra charge unless they’re included in your fare or a dining package, but for us, they were worth the splurge. Tuscan Grille An upscale Italian steakhouse with gorgeous views — we lucked out with a sunset table. My husband ordered the rib eye (no surprise there), and I had the lobster rigatoni Alfredo. Both dishes were outstanding, and the atmosphere was elegant without being stuffy. Definitely a spot we’d visit again. The Porch Perched at the top of the ship and enclosed in glass, The Porch offers panoramic views and a laid-back vibe. We chose it so my husband could try mussels for the first time — and he enjoyed them! The food was very good, but the setting felt more like a chic lunch spot than a full dinner venue. Still, highly recommend it — just maybe for a midday meal. 🍻 Casual Bites & Bar Food: Craft Social We also stopped by Craft Social, Celebrity’s sports bar. It features a huge beer selection (covered under the drink package) and comfort food for purchase — think mac ‘n’ brie fries, meat & cheese boards, and wings. I couldn’t resist trying the wings (they were solid), and my husband had fun with the build-your-own Old Fashioned menu. Note: this isn’t a complimentary dining venue, but prices were reasonable for bar-style eats. 🍳 Oceanview Café – The Buffet Experience As far as cruise buffets go, Oceanview Café checks all the boxes: fresh options, a wide range of dishes (some staples, some rotating), and a great place for breakfast or when your excursion throws off normal mealtimes. I may or may not have become obsessed with the hashbrowns. 🍽️ Main Dining Room – Grand Cuvee We chose anytime dining, which let us eat at our leisure between 5 and 9 p.m. We ended up in the same section with the same fantastic waitstaff both times — a nice touch, even without fixed seating. One fun moment: my husband joked with the waiter about only liking a few vegetables (mainly asparagus). When his steak arrived, it came not only with broccoli but also asparagus — and even a few shrimp on top, which wasn’t part of the dish. The waiter proudly presented it, clearly pleased to surprise us. That kind of attention and personal service really stood out. 🥗 Quick Bites – Spa Café & Café al Bacio The Spa Café offered healthy grab-and-go options like turkey wraps, bagels, and fresh juices or smoothies. Smoothies were included in our drink package — always check what’s covered under yours. Over at Café al Bacio, the specialty coffee venue, we grabbed made-to-order coffees and a few pastries (no extra charge for the baked goods). If you're picky about your coffee, a drink package that includes specialty options might be a smart choice — the regular brew included in cruise fare wasn’t our favorite. 👗 Dress Code Vibes Most venues were resort casual, with plenty of flexibility. We saw everything from formal wear to shorts and sneakers. Our go-to was a sundress for me and slacks with a button-up for him — we felt right at home and never over- or under-dressed. 🛳️ Final Thoughts If you're a foodie — or just like having options — you’ll be more than satisfied on the Celebrity Silhouette. The variety, quality, and service across all dining venues were top-notch (with a small exception for the drip coffee 😄). Seven days wasn’t nearly enough time to try everything, so yes — we’d cruise Celebrity again, no question.
